MAKE-UP AIR UNIT
Make-up air unit repair service install should be done by a certified contractor. Make-up air units are devices that control and regulates the necessary intake of fresh into a building. It has a large air handler that uses 100% outside fresh air. This air is then distributed throughout a commercial space or building by the use of a blower fan motor through a single or multiple ducting within the building. Make-up air units are set up only when negative pressure caused by a forced-air heating system occurs. This is where the building is sealed and insulated properly, hence resulting in negative pressure developing inside. Rather than allowing this negative pressure to cause infiltration around doors, windows or wherever an unintended opening might be, contractors can install a make-up air unit. This unit maintains output temperature between 55-75 degF.
There are two common places where make-up air unit installs for a building: directly on top of the roof or on the size of the building. These units would be installed on a ducting system in addition to supply fresh air to the building. Another side effect of negative pressure is where the building becomes starved for air, which negatively affects doors and windows, hence reducing building air quality. Since these systems bring in a constant supply of fresh air from the outside, ample air is available for building air quality which improves building efficiency. Current building codes and regulations required the use of makeup air units to prevent negative building pressure.
It is recommended by the manufacture that Make-up air unit repair install and service of equipment be inspected once per year for safety and proper operation.
Failure to do so may result in Bad Air Quality, Equipment Failure, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning etc.
